University Sports Resume
After a year without games, the Atlantic University Sport announced that sports will resume play. COVID isolation and social distancing rules closed campuses across the country, and more recently didn't allow for athletes to compete in close physical contact. Now thanks to new loosening rules, AUS says that winter games are a go.
Dalhousie, St. Mary's and Acadia universities will begin a five weeks of exhibition games. Players will have to follow safety protocols that are yet to be finalized, and no spectators will be allowed. Not all maritime universities will be participating. St. Fracis Xavier university has already stated that their teams will not join.
While students have had to navigate unprecedented circumstances, with remote learning, restricted or no access to academic spaces, including labs, libraries and residences, the return of university sport represents a small step towards the resumption of regular campus life.
